MDW Rusty Gunman – Mobile Vehicle Contact (Touws River) 12th–15th March 2026
CONNECTING THE DOTS FOR DRIVING AND SHOOTING.
ALTHOUGH DRIVING SKILLS ARE A CRITICAL ELEMENT OF THIS COURSE, THEIR APPLICATION AND EMPHASIS ARE QUITE DIFFERENT FROM A CLASSIC ADVANCED DRIVING SKILLS COURSE. DRIVING AND SHOOTING SKILLS FOR THIS COURSE ARE BASED ON REAL-WORLD CASE STUDIES FOR SOFT-SKIN VEHICLE OCCUPANTS TO PREVAIL AGAINST ATTEMPTED AMBUSHES AND HIJACKINGS.
WHO CAN JOIN?
The course is limited to 16 participants – 7 of these spaces are already reserved. Bookings for the remaining 8 places open on the 6th of January and are based on a first-come-first-serve basis. Course content
This course covers the key aspects of dynamic vehicle engagements while staying mobile and, if possible, directing fire at attackers.
- Understanding mobile vehicle ambushes and choke points
- Understanding ballistics relating to vehicles, including glass and cover.
- Vehicle counter-ambush-counter-surveillance concepts (Setting a baseline)
- Safety, weapons handling, and shooting in and around vehicles
- Embussing and debussing under fire
- Key counter ambush driving skills (don’t think of this as an advanced driving course – it is aimed at a drive around, though, and over obstacles
- Dealing with mobile attackers (other moving vehicles)
- Bypassing or ramming barriers
- Approaches to assist people under attack (driving toward ambushes in progress)

Special Cost R2750 Per Person for MDW members of anyone that’s competing or volunteering as a range officer in any of the 2026 BST events

Course Duration
Thursday, 12th of March till Sunday, 15th March 2026
• Thursday evening: Briefing, range safety, and gear check
• Friday: Full-day training, followed by a debrief and a braai
• Saturday: Full-day training, followed by a debrief and a braai
• Sunday: Wrap-up +-14h30
